Another Drive-By Shooting: MPP Fed Up!

Yesterday, another drive-by shooting occurred in MPP Mike Colle’s riding of Eglinton-Lawrence, in the Lawrence and Allen Road area.

As MPP, Mike Colle has been crusading to get guns off our streets, especially out of cars, with his proposed law Bill 56 - Unlawful Firearms in Vehicles Act 2008 – which gives police officers the authority to:

1. Immediately impound cars where a gun is found;
2. Immediately suspend the driver’s licence of a driver who has a gun in the vehicle    they are in possession of.

“Sadly, this ongoing gun-crime occurring throughout the City is more reason than ever to take some tough measures against criminals with guns in their possession”, said Colle.

Colle is hoping that people will send a strong message that this criminal gun activity must stop and tough measures will be taken.  This is why he is encouraging the public to get behind his Bill 56 by signing the on-line Petition, or emailing their support so that this Bill can be passed and we can stem this tide of gun violence in our streets.

Colle’s Bill 56 is supported by Chief William Blair, OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino, and the Toronto Police Association, and has gone through Second Reading in the Legislature.

If you would like more information about this Bill, and how you can help to get it passed, please visit our website or email us.
